Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year at Miami Springs Middle School. I hope everyone had a spectacular summer and had lots of rest and time with family and friends. Last year, we grew stronger together as we dealt with the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year, we are excited to announce the reopening of our Media Center. Students will have the opportunity to engage with literacy and explore new technologies under the direction of our Media Specialist.
Our students will thrive throughout this school year as they engage with our faculty and staff and immerse themselves in challenging curriculum and over 15 elective course options. This year, we have added Spanish with an option for high school credit for our 8th grade students and we have opened a new dance program. We continue to offer our Restorative Justice Program (RJP) program where select students are trained by our Student Services Team to lead small groups of students towards stronger communication and collaboration in an atmosphere that values equity, respect, and safety.
Our Cambridge, gifted, and high school credit courses (Algebra 1, Geometry, Physical Science, Biology, and Spanish 1) will challenge students to soar to new heights of achievement. Our ESOL program will guarantee that our non-native English Language students will increase their language skills and raise their reading comprehension. Students in our ESE program have a supportive group of teachers and courses from our self-contained core classes to inclusion and general education courses offered with support.
Our CODING AND ANIMATION MAGNET (CAM) continues to win district and state competitions, advancing to 6th place in the States last school year. Our “Eagle STEAM” Academy, is in its fourth year and our students are flourishing. Through our World Cultures and Peer Counseling courses we continue to strengthen our student’s collaboration and communication skills while fulfilling the Miami Springs Middle School Vision of “encouraging our students to take an active role in their learning, to share ideas and work with others to create learning experiences that have a positive impact on their school and their communities.”
Our faculty and staff are dedicated to making sure our students and their families are academically and socially and emotionally engaged with us in a safe learning environment. Our priority is high academic achievement, safety, and communication. We want our students to embrace the following words said best by Michael Jordan: “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” Our faculty and staff are eager and ready to support all our students succeed academically and social emotionally. Our students will join our elite team and rise to become EAGLE ALL STARS!
